Turtle Lake Policies and Campground Regulations

CAMPING

 

1)  CHECK-IN time is 2 PM and CHECK-OUT is 12 NOON.  Office hours are 9 AM – 9 PM.  After hours, Please call   231-275-7353

 

2) QUIET HOURS ARE OBSERVED BETWEEN 11 PM & 8 AM. Noise levels should be reasonable at all times Please keep the volume on your electronic devices, TVs, radios, stereos, and  musical instruments at a reasonable level.  LOUD, ABUSIVE, OR OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE IS PROHIBITED.

 

3)  Please keep your campsite clean and orderly. Trenching is NOT permitted nor required because of sandy soil.  Please DO NOT  put campsite trash in bathroom containers - Dumpsters are available for your convienience. Please do not  wash dishes in bathrooms. 

 

4)  Do not cut through other people’s campsites. Please see map for path locations. CLOTHESLINES MUST BE AT LEAST 7 FEET FROM GROUND LEVEL.

 

5) Fires MUST be attended at all times.  Be sure campfire is COMPLETELY OUT before leaving campsite for extended periods. Fire rings may NOT be removed.  DO NOT BURN TRASH, PLASTIC, GLASS OR FABRIC. 

 

6)  NO chainsaws are allowed.  Do not chop wood after dark.  It is dangerous and will disturb others.  Cut firewood is available in the office for a small fee. 

 

7)  Removal or defacing of living trees or plants is prohibited.  Do not carve, insert nails, or hang lanterns from trees.

 

8)  NO FIREARMS, air guns, bows & arrows or slingshots are allowed.  NO FIREWORKS are allowed within the campground.

 

TURTLE LAKE IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRAGILE.  FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS, PLEASE USE THE LAKE IN A MANNER THAT IS RESPECTFUL OF ALL USERS AS WELL AS THE WILDLIFE THAT MAKE TURTLE LAKE THEIR HOME.

     

PLEASE REPORT ANY INCIDENTS OF VANDALISM, DESTRUCTIVE OR DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR, OR OTHER SAFETY CONCERNS TO A STAFF MEMBER IMMEDIATELY!  PERSONS FOUND TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VANDALISM OR DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY WILL BE HELD LIABLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO EXPULSION FROM THE CAMPGROUND AND/OR REFERRAL TO LAW ENFORCEMENT. 

 

PETS

 

1)  Pets ON LEASH are welcome but are NOT allowed in the beach area.  Walk you dog in the wooded areas away from the campsites.  Please help us continue to allow pets by cleaning up after them.  Do not leave pets unattended.  VICIOUS OR EXCESSIVELY BARKING DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED.

 

BEACH AND WATER

 

1)  Children under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult while at beach area and MUST wear a life vest while on any flotation device including boats and tubes.  Non-swimmers and persons with disabilities MUST also wear a life vest while in/on the water. Persons of ALL ages MUST have an auxilliary flotation device (life vest, flotation cushion, etc ) while boating, kayaking, canoeing, etc. 

 

2)  Insist on safe, responsible play.  No sand throwing, etc.  Do not take glass bottles or containers to the beach area.

 

3)  BOATS, CANOES, KAYAKS AND PADDLEBOATS OWNED BY THE CAMPGROUND are available for rent on an hourly basis.  Time restrictions may apply on high volume days.  Small  motorized boats are allowed so long as speed is kept reasonable. NO JET SKIS OR POWER BOATS ARE PERMITTED. Please check with the office for  locations of nearby lakes more suited for these type of watercraft. Boats, canoes and kayaks MUST NOT be loaded with persons beyond their rated capacity, MUSTbe occupied at all times while on the water and MAY NOT be used as diving or swim platforms.   

 

4)  Fishing is allowed from shore, boats, and specified docks marked "FISHING ALLOWED" subject to state DNR fishing license requirements.  TURTLES AND OTHER WILDLIFE  - WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FISH -  MAY NOT BE DELIBERATELY BAITED, CAPTURED OR CONFINED.  If any are inadvertently caught, it must be released immediately.

 

ROADWAYS

 

1)  For the safety of our young guests, SPEED LIMIT WITHIN THE CAMPGROUND IS TWELVE AND 1/2 (12 1/2) MPH AND IS STRICTLY ENFORCED!

 

2)  Motorcycles, mini-bikes, ATVs, etc. may be ridden on campground roadways  to enter/exit campground and directly access your campsite only. NO RIDING OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED WITHIN THE CAMPGROUND AFTER 11 PM EXCEPT FOR FOR CAMPGROUND SECURITY STAFF.  Other riding must be done on roadways or trails outside campground.  NO RECREATIONAL RIDING WITHIN CAMPGROUND IS PERMITTED.  Bicycles must be ridden in a safe, responsible manner.  No racing, skidding, or jumping is allowed.  No bicycles may be ridden after dark.

 

VISITORS

 

Visitors to registered campers are welcome between 10 AM and 11 PM.  All visitors must register at the office BEFORE entering the campground and obtain a pass.   Only 2 vehicles per campsite.  Others must park in reserved parking.   Visitors remaining in the campground beyond 11 PM will be considered additional campers and will be charged the regular fee.

 

NOTICE: These Regulations are for the comfort and safety of our guests.  VIOLATORS WILL BE SUBJECT TO WARNING, ADDITIONAL CHARGES, OR EXPULSION FROM THE CAMPGROUND AT SOLE DISCRETION OF MANAGEMENT.  Please notify the Management if the bathhouse needs cleaning, restocking, repair, or if we can help you in any way.  Thank you for your help and cooperation.  Please feel free to make suggestions on ways we can make your stay more enjoyable.
